Duplicate User Issues Quote | Reply

Hello, I was wondering if anyone out there has used this software. We've purchased the software, but haven't been able to get much support from the Mangoware.

I've noticed that the DataTrack client is very slow when connecting to our SQL Server database. Since there really aren't that many open issues at any given time (around 15), I think the problem may be related to there being duplicate users in the database. We have over 150 employees working here, and most of them are duplicated at least twice (and up to 5x!) in the users table. We are using active directory integration, and it seems like there's something wrong with the feature.

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

We've found that duplicate users happen with the AD module if you try and modify any of the existing user information that's imported. When the sync with AD happens, if the existing Magnoware user is different than the AD version, it thinks it's a new user. This is also true with the Asset/Inventory module.

As an aside, this company is going bankrupt. They've not returned any technical inquiries we've placed (about 22), and they owe us a refund on an erroneous charge. They apparently owe money around the net to forums that link to their free download. I'd suggest cutting your losses and moving on to a supported system.

Thank you so much for your response. That makes sense, as we have both the Active Directory and Asset Inventory Module.

They haven't returned any of our calls and emails either. It doesn't surprise me that they are bankrupt, but I was hoping that wasn't the case. How did you find out about their bankruptcy? We've been talking about designing our own custom in-house solution, so yes, we might have to cut our losses. It's a shame that there's so many bugs because the software really has a lot of good features and user interface.

For anyone out there who is still using this, may I give some advice. I found that there's a table called RELATED_ITEMS that had a bunch of nulls (over 140,000). Once I deleted those, the entire application sped up significantly and has been fine since. So just run this sql code in the backend SQL Server database: "delete from related items where identifier_guid is null"

The one message that they did respond to said they were "re-organizing" and would refund my money. That was January 2007. I have talked with a couple of software listing sites that are unpaid for their efforts. I'm actually trying to get through to them in any way I can. The owner/creator of Magnoware is a 21 year-old singer. You can look him up in the Wikipedia at: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tajddin.

I'd love it if they stayed in business. Our problem is the email alerts. All other email alerts work except the very first one that notifies the Helpdesk that a ticket has been submitted. It does mail the notification, but all it has in it are the field names that you place in it....not the data from the fields themselves. If it would do that, I'd stop bugging MagnoWare and just use it. That initial message is critical to us, as we are automatically dispatched by this, sometimes at different sites. Being able to transmit fields like "submitter", "Summary" and other info, like asset information makes or breaks it for us. If you have any insight, we'd be very grateful !! Thanks
